Amazing session with Mala earlier this month. The vibes were warm and there was a lot of knowledge, respect and love in the room. Will be editing the interview soon and will post on our soundcloud ASAP.

For everyone who was in attendance, make sure you post your comments on the site so we can share with Mala and the crew!

As you probably know by now, the next CDR session is a special event presented by the Red Bull Music Academy to give you info on the Academy, how to apply and what you can expect if you get selected. We are also lucky to have James Pants (Sydney & Perth), and Peanut Butter Wolf (Melbourne) sitting on the couch of knowledge to share their Academy stories and to give you tips about music making, the industry and their way of doing things.

Because the application deadline is so soon after the info session I encourage you to get cracking. You can download the application here

To help you along here are some of my top tips for getting it done. They may seem simplistic and may go against what your gut tells you but as a successful applicant I can tell you that these worked for me. My application was a complete mess but a bit of honesty and cheekiness got me through.

Good luck and get in touch with me any time if you feel stuck or want some more information!

As always we want you to bring all the tracks you’ve been pouring your soul into so get those CDR’s burning.

LORNA’S TOP TIPS FOR APPLYING FOR THE RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY

1. Start filling the application in NOW. It takes ages so give yourself as long as possible. (Deadline: April 4)
2. Be honest – don’t write what you ‘think’ the judges may want to read.
3. Show something of yourself – be personal.
4. Don’t try to be cool!!
5. Show your sense of humour.
6. Don’t worry about spelling, grammar or your writing not being neat.
7. Be creative
8. Have fun with the process
